Frédéric Mazilly and his son, Aymeric, both trained at the prestigious Lycée Viticole in Beaune, produce a range of both red and white wines from their 18 hectacre domaine in Meloisey, a small village in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. (Although a bit off today’s beaten path, Meloisey boasts centuries-long winemaking traditions, and local historians believe that Meloisey wine was served at the coronation of Philippe-Auguste in 1179!) The team at Domaine Mazilly, along with their negotiant arm, Maison Aymeric Mazilly, tend Premier Cru and Village vineyards in Meursault, Pommard, Beaune, Savigny les Beaune and Gevrey-Chambertin, crafting balanced and structured wines that are rich and bold. Frédéric and Aymeric want their wines to be full of fruit so they carefully manage the amount of woodiness by never using more than 20% new oak barrels for reds or 25% for whites. The domaine annually receives medals from noteworthy competitions such as the Concours des Grands Vins de France and the Concours des Vins des Vignerons Independants.
