Maison Ambroise

Fifth generation owners/winemakers, Ludivine, Maud and François Ambroise tend nearly 20 hectares of red and white grape vines mostly near their home in Premeaux-Prissey, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Despite the "Maison" titling, the estate purchases few grapes as virtually all of the vineyards are either owned by the domaine or managed by them under long-term contracts. Producing wines from Villages to Grand Cru designation, the team focuses on sustainable agriculture and biodiverse practices. Indeed, this estate has been certified "Haute Valeur Environnementale" (official French designation for high environmental value) since 2020. This means no chemicals, pesticides and synthetic fertilizers are ever employed, and all picking is done by hand. This focus on natural farming results in wines which tend towards softer, rounder flavor profiles, although many of the vines are planted in terroirs known for producing powerful fruit. The wines generally benefit from mid-term aging, but are never too harsh to enjoy young.
